It was challenging to be located by the group given the sketchy signal and the maze of spur trails. However, knowing our friends as well as we do, they would be just a pine cone's throw away from the river where they would be filtering water. Likewise, when you're trying to cultivate your business, start by drawing a line from your optimal customer to their needs. The line may not be straight, but it will make logical sense given who they are and what they care about (if you've done your research). What a pristine landscape! We thought nothing had set a paw down all winter, from our vantage point on the far side of the river. Crossing the bridge to the near side revealed another story: evidently many creatures had ventured out but turned back at this open water obstacle. Well, we hope they turned back. As entrepreneurs, we have to admit that we're excited about white space opportunities. But it's wise to do some digging to understand why no one is currently playing in that space. Is it because you've innovated? Or is it because of a formidable barrier? Knowing the backstory either prevents you from investing in a failure or spurs you to circumvent the issue so you can succeed where others fail. Either answer is a valuable one! There was nowhere for our eyes to rest at the World Famous Penny Arcade which was packed with percussive, blinking games. Yet each kid ultimately put their quarter into the one that met their definition of fun while spitting out the highest ticket count. The marketplace for most goods and services is similarly noisy and crowded.
